We are all a little crazy

In this huge world with its teeming population, there are no two people who are alike. The human psyche is vast and intricate, deeply complex and ever-evolving. Our emotions, experiences, desires, and fears are fluid, constantly shifting and adapting to our surroundings and situations. We may grow up in completely different parts of the world but find resonance for same values. We may have the same parents but lead vastly different lives. We may be two peas in a pod with someone but grow apart like the sun and moon. We may have been sitting in the same college lecture but listen to things differently. And we may change. So frequently and in so many ways, that we are not the same people we were last week.

“No person ever steps in the same river twice, for it's not the same river and they are not the same person.”

Heraclitus (the original quote said 'man' instead of 'person'; 'he' instead of 'they')

So, if we think about it, there is no 'disease' or 'disorder' or any theoretical framework, for that matter, that can classify millions of individual's complex inner worlds in a few defined categories. While models, theories, and structures provide frameworks to assist understanding, there are really no categories an entire person can fit, nor should they have to. To box ourselves or others into fixed structures is to deny the dynamism that is inherently human.

Rather than being either 'totally joyful' or 'so depressed', 'mentally healthy' or 'mentally ill' , I like to think we are on a more nuanced spectrum of wellbeing, and quite honestly, I think we are all a little crazy. It is when someone's challenges are becoming a significant obstacle for their functioning or for leading a decent quality of life, is when someone often considers mental health as a matter of concern. Psychotherapy can help in observing, understanding and improving our mental health.

No two individual's lives are the same, nor are their joys, sorrows, goals or therapeutic journeys.

The devil beauty is in the details..

...the details of 'you' as a person- your experiences, your present circumstances, your present circumstances and past experiences, your significant relationships, your dreams and memories. In short, everything that matters to you. And we make space for the unique person that you are, your subjectivity and your 'being' in the world.

We build and work through a therapeutic relationship between the client and practitioner. For some, it can look like having a reliable presence, a comforting other or someone in their corner. For others, it can be someone who makes them look more closely into their world and their being and question what was, till then, assumed. For most people the therapeutic relationship is a combination of all these and more, and continues to evolve.

Recognising that every person's journey is distinct, I keep my approach flexible, often integrating various therapeutic techniques to best serve your individual path. Whether you are navigating life transitions, confronting past traumas, or seeking clarity and purpose, my aim is to be a supportive guide as you chart your course to emotional wellbeing.
